Privacy — MOOP
Updated: 27 October 2026. Publisher: Yves Durand. Contact: support@recordpicker.app.
MOOP stores your library on your devices: movies and series, lists, favourites, watched status, notes, tags, progress, history and personal illustrations. No MOOP account is required. MOOP has no server receiving your library and includes no advertising or audience analytics.
Purchases and trial
Downloading is free. You can explicitly start an optional seven-day free trial, with no automatic charge. An optional permanent purchase then unlocks MOOP on iPhone and Mac using the same Apple Account. The base price is €4.99; Apple’s purchase sheet shows the local price. This is not a subscription.
Apple processes purchases and restoration. MOOP uses StoreKit and verified transactions provided by Apple to determine trial start and expiry and your access entitlement. This information may include product identifiers, dates and transaction identifiers. MOOP cannot access your payment card details and does not send your transactions to a publisher server. Apple processes necessary data under its privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ . Purchased access can be restored with the same Apple Account; this does not synchronise your library.
External services
The public version does not preload a third-party catalogue or extract catalogues from HTML pages. Metadata and programme searches initiated in the app contact external services, including Apple, TVmaze and Wikipedia. Search terms and, depending on the feature, a country or date are sent to the provider. It also receives technical information needed for the connection, including your IP address, and may retain logs under its own privacy policy. MOOP does not receive a copy of those logs.
Links to platforms or web searches open the relevant service, which applies its own rules. A web search may include the title being searched. MOOP does not read your passwords, subscriptions or private sessions and does not guarantee that a programme is included in your subscription.
Previously imported personal files may contain remote illustration addresses. Displaying these images may contact their host. The public version does not offer illustration importing by pasting a web address.
For “Today’s pick”, MOOP may fetch public news feeds from CNC and the European Commission, together with a fixed general query to GDELT. These requests contain neither your library nor your personal titles, tags, notes or user identifier. Providers receive technical connection information, including your IP address, and apply their own policies. MOOP processes the received headlines, dates and links locally to suggest connections; a “thematic echo” is MOOP’s interpretation. An on-device cache limits requests. This feature does not download article pages or their images; opening a source link contacts the relevant website. The publisher does not receive your library or a copy of providers’ logs.
Photos, files and transfers
You explicitly select the photos, files or clipboard images to import. Imported illustrations are re-encoded without retaining the original image’s GPS, EXIF or IPTC metadata. Captions, credits and links you enter remain in the library and its exports. A JSON backup may contain personal information; it is not an anonymisation tool.
Apple Watch transfers use the paired iPhone and Apple mechanisms. Optional private iCloud synchronisation is available between iPhone and Mac; it is off by default and requires the same Apple Account with iCloud on the relevant devices. If you enable it, your library, including metadata, lists, notes, illustrations and history, is sent to your private CloudKit space hosted by Apple. The publisher has no server receiving that data. Purchases are not synced through CloudKit: access is verified and restored separately through StoreKit. JSON export and import remain available for transfers and backups. Your device’s system backups may also include app data. Turning sync off stops future exchanges; it does not mean copies already in iCloud or on other devices are deleted.
Retention and deletion
Exports are saved to your chosen destination. Trash allows titles to be restored, and recovery copies may retain an earlier state. Resetting preferences does not delete the library. To delete all your data, remove the app’s data through the operating system, as well as relevant recovery copies, exports and system backups. On Mac, uninstalling the app may leave its data files.

Viewing reminders
You can schedule a film or series and explicitly enable a local notification. Dates, alert preferences and identifiers of exported reminders stay on this device; they are not included in library iCloud sync. Notification permission is never requested at launch.
You initiate each addition to Apple Reminders or Calendar. MOOP requests Reminders access only for this action and does not send your reminder list to the publisher. Exported items are independent copies: removing a plan from MOOP does not delete them. Apple or your calendar provider may sync them according to your settings.
Automatic film information and ratings
You can enable automatic retrieval of film information and ratings available in Wikidata’s open structured data. This option is off by default in the public app. When enabled, opening the film library or a title’s details may send its IMDb identifier, or its title and year when an identifier is missing, to Wikimedia to find an exact match. Wikimedia also receives technical connection information, including your IP address. Personal notes, tags, favorites, viewing history and illustrations are not sent for these lookups. The app developer does not receive these requests.
Results are stored on your device to limit requests. Information may be refreshed after seven days; unsuccessful requests are spaced by at least twenty-four hours. Turning the option off stops future automatic requests. You can still refresh manually. IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes® ratings recorded in Wikidata may be missing or historical: MOOP shows their sources and available dates, with a link to the original title page. This is not a real-time connection to either service’s official data feed.
