Support — MOOP

MOOP is a personal movie and series library for Mac, iPhone and Apple Watch. Video playback takes place in your chosen external service.

Getting started

Add your first title manually or import your library. Random selection, the daily pick and moods use your available titles. Organise favourites, lists, tags and genres, record watched status and its date, add a personal rating and manually track your progress through a series.

The library offers search, sorting, list or poster views and multiple selection. Trash lets you restore removed titles. Metadata searches show information for you to check before saving; accuracy depends on the provider.

Choose an illustration from Photos, a file or an image copied to the clipboard. You can open an image search in the browser, then import an image you are entitled to use. Pasting an image’s web address and extracting HTML pages are not offered in the public version.

Backups and transfers

JSON export preserves the library and its history, including personal lists and illustrations. CSV transfers title information. IMDb list importing is also available. Keep a backup before an important operation. Recovery copies can help restore an earlier state. Resetting preferences preserves the library.

Private iCloud synchronisation between iPhone and Mac is optional and off by default. To use it, enable it in MOOP settings on the relevant devices and use the same Apple Account with iCloud. Titles, lists, notes, illustrations and history can then be exchanged through your private Apple space. Operation depends on connectivity and iCloud services; synchronisation is not an independent backup. Keep your JSON exports. JSON import and export remain available for transferring the library without this option. Apple Watch receives data through its paired iPhone and Apple mechanisms.

Searches and platforms

The public version starts without a preloaded third-party catalogue. External searches and schedules need an internet connection; results may be incomplete or change. Links to Prime Video, Apple TV, france.tv, ARTE and other platforms open those services. They do not connect your accounts or guarantee availability or inclusion in your subscription.

Trial and one-time purchase

Downloading is free. Open the purchase screen and explicitly start the optional seven-day free trial. The trial never triggers an automatic charge. At its end, you decide whether to make the permanent purchase; no subscription is offered.

One purchase unlocks MOOP on iPhone and Mac using the same Apple Account. The base price is €4.99; check the local price shown in Apple’s purchase sheet before confirming. On your other device, restore purchases using that same Apple Account. Purchases and restoration need Apple services. Restoring access is separate from library synchronisation: use optional iCloud sync or JSON files for your titles.

If a purchase is missing, check which Apple Account you used and restore purchases. When contacting support, provide the MOOP version and displayed message, without sending passwords or payment details.

Mark a title as watched

On a result, tap the outlined checkmark to mark a film or series as watched. A filled checkmark means it has been watched; tap it to mark it unwatched again. You can also long-press the artwork or open its record. The title remains displayed after the status change; the To watch filter excludes it from subsequent draws once marked watched.

Viewing reminders

On iPhone and Mac, long-press or right-click a title and choose Schedule viewing. You can also open Personalization, then Reminders. Choose a date, optionally a time, and enable a local notification before viewing if desired. Plans stay on this device and are not included in library iCloud sync. Explicit additions to Apple Reminders or Calendar are independent copies.
